The sadness in losing one you love is knowing that no amount of money, nothing you do or say, no matter how hard you search or try, nothing will bring them back. The very best we can hope for is to meet them again at the Rainbow Bridge, where they spend the day playing and laying in the sun, as they wait for us. This page is full of sadness for us, but also part of who we are. Please take a moment to meet those we loved, and who were oh-so-special to us. And share in our pride to have had them in our lives, for much too brief of time! Susan and Len; Shelley and Russ...... You know of the myth regarding the Pot of Gold at the far end of the rainbow. by Shelley... *********************************************************************************************** It is not a myth, at one end of the rainbow is the Rainbow Bridge at the other end of the rainbow is what has been mistaken by Leprechauns as the Pot of Gold It is not a Pot of Gold, it is a very large Golden whelping pen that the Leprechaun's mistakenly thought was a Pot. The shiny items they witnessed in the Pot was not gold nuggets but are puppies. The Elder Dogs of the Rainbow Bridge in their ultimate wisdom knew that these helpless young puppies needed constant care, the same care their loving breeders had given them, but to no avail. So the Golden whelping pen was designed. Further, to distinguish the Elders in their ultimate wisdom, was the thought as to how to care for these young ones. There was only one choice, the Elders knew that only the best dams could undertake this labor of love. These dams are precious mothers who have passed over the Rainbow Bridge while in whelp or shortly thereafter. The Elders at the Rainbow Bridge are immediately informed of these dams and their exceptional mothering skills so they send them to the Golden whelping pen to take care of the tiny puppies who have passed over the Rainbow Bridge but are too small to run and play like all the others who had come over the Rainbow Bridge These pups who are sent to the Golden whelping pen glow a golden hue as a tribute to their breeders who fought to save them. Those who had no real breeders glow a brighter golden hue as a recognition to their abandonment. Very few people or Leprechaun's for that matter have ever seen the Pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow because of a few very protective mother dogs who are watching and protecting the Golden whelping pen and their precious golden nuggets. So now you know the whole story. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Ferris" ~ 7/28/02 - 3/6/06 BISS Am, Can, Int, UKC Champion Ryms W Fair Warning, OFA ~ Ferris brought us together and is the reason behind Mai~Ryms Poms. It is to him that this site is dedicated. Rest in Peace, our dearest little "Wheel!" We will meet again! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ " Maggie" ~ 7/19/03 - 10/18/06 Ch Maitai's Time in a Bottle ~ Our beautiful "puff-a-lump" Maggie died tragically after having developed pneumonia, permanently damaging her lungs from the stomach acid she aspirated. We had to say good-bye to her when we were completely unprepared to do so. Maggie is from the last of Maitai Chow's chow litters. Len and Susan have one chow left, who is now 12, Adagio. Enjoy the butterflies at the bridge, dear Maggie! We will see you there! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Ribbon" ~ 12/8/93 - 6/29/01 Maitai's Ribbons of Fudge ~ Ribbon was the victim of a nasty divorce, where she unwittingly paid for the anger felt by Susan's ex-husband. Rest in Peace dear Ribbon. I'll see you again at the bridge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ShuShu ~ 8/27/96 - 2003 Just Tai-Mai Shui San - ShuShu was one of Susan's parvo survivors. She lost 12 puppies that year that ShuShu was born, and saved only 3. She was one of them. However, surviving parvo does leave its mark...in a damaged heart. She died much to young, but died with the family she was living with, who also loved her beyond words. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nora - died 7/19/07 Ryms W Come Away With Me Our deepest condolences to Vicky and her family on the sudden death of Nora. She was much to young to go. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meghan - 7/21/04 -7/18/07 Maitai's I Hope You Dance Meghan had a rough life for such a little girl. At 7 months, she broke her hip, forever taking her from the show ring. Then in February of 2007, Susan came home to find her in acute distress from a collapsed trachea, something she had never seen in any of her dogs. She lived after several days in ICU, but needed medication. She is pictured above coming home from that harrowing ordeal. Then on July 18, she had an allergic reaction to something unknown. A spider bite, perhaps? Her throat closed, and then set off the collapsing trachea. She died in our arms. We will miss this special little girl who was so brave and tried so hard through it all, to live. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Scooter 5/17/07 - 8/3/07 Scooter started out the hard luck kid, breaking her leg when Susan stepped on her. She was doing so well scooting around the house in her cast, that Len named her Scooter. Then, without warning, on August 3, Len found her choking on a Bil-Jac treat. It was lodged in her throat and it wouldn't come out. Rushed to the vet, they tried in vain to get it to move. It was pushing on her heart and put her into cardiac arrest. We will NEVER give Bil-Jac treats again. And the experience made us much smarter about treats. We are now very careful what we give them and when. What a horrible way for a puppy to die! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
